Moodle - Self service course creation

UW-Madison is adopting Canvas as the single, centrally supported learning management system, and discontinuing support for Desire2Learn (D2L) and Moodle. Access to D2L and Moodle will permanently end June 1, 2018. For information about retaining materials from D2L or Moodle, please refer to this document.

Who can use the self service course creation on UW Moodle

Some departments on campus allow instructors to create their own UW Moodle courses.  Schools and colleges currently allowing this include:

  • Agricultural and Life Sciences
  • Education
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Studies
  • Human Ecology
  • Law
  • Letters and Science

If you are teaching a course in one of these departments (or cross-listed with one of these departments) then you can create your own UW Moodle course using the instructions found here:  Moodle - Logging in and Creating a Course.

If you are teaching a course in a department other than those above, you should contact your local moodle contact to create the course for you.  For your local contact, see  9515.
