Impact of the Transportation Services Changes on Academic Staff

Whereas UW-Madison Transportation Services is facing an annual budget deficit of nearly $1 million and is considering options to reduce the deficit including a fee for the bus pass and/or evening parking permits,

Whereas lower income academic staff members are more likely to depend on the bus for transportation to and from work, and

Whereas academic staff have job duties that often require them to be on campus not only during daytime working hours but also in the evening and on weekends.

The Academic Staff Assembly asks Transportation Services to minimize the impact of any charges for bus passes and other services on academic staff with lower incomes and to continue to make evening and weekend parking available to academic staff at no cost.
