UW-Madison Box - Java Errors During Upload
This document describes the potential errors that may appear when using the "Upload folders" option in Box. For general information on uploading folders and large files to Box, please see: UW-Madison Box - File Management
If you are running one of the latest versions of Java, you may receive the below warning(s) after selecting Upload folders from the Upload menu. These errors appear due to new security enhancements added to Java 7u45.
Firefox may initially block the two necessary Java plug-ins. If you see any inactive Java plug-in errors (shown below), click on the plug-in icon on the left side of the address bar and select Allow and remember for any listed plug-ins, then click OK. You should only need to do this once.
In Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer, you will receive a prompt asking Do you want to run this application? with the below text:
"This application will run with unrestricted access which may put your computer and personal information at risk. Run this application only if you trust the locations and publisher above."
Click Run. You will need to do this each time you use the uploader.
