Case Scenario Critical Reader Support Page - Design Resources - Storyboarding a Case (UW-Madison)

Please refrain from developing new CSCR modules. UW-Madison is moving to the Canvas LMS. While CSCR modules can be loaded into Canvas courses, they cannot be connected to the Canvas gradebook. A team from the Teaching and Learning Technology Advisory Group (TLTAG) created a recommendation for alternate tools that you can see here. Members of the transition team would like to meet with you to help you select the solution(s) that best meets your needs to move your content. Please let us know when we can best assist you by completing this form or contact the designated instructional technologist for your school or college.

A storyboard is essentially a sketch that helps you plan early, before getting involved with a production tool. Below are some resources to create effective storyboards:

Storyboard Type Description Example
Branching Flow A global view of main events and decisions that link to one another. Boxes and arrows.
CSCR projects often incorporate minimal branching. A team of 4-6 members is recommended for intensive, "path-based" branching.
Branching Scenarios and Case-Based Learning in eLearning
Screen Storyboard Displays what will appear on the screen per "slide". Lists often accompany the visuals, regarding text, graphic, or audio needs. Storyboard Templates in Three Steps to Building Branching Scenarios
