L&S Dean's Senior Staff
Dean's staff meetings are held on Monday mornings during the academic year. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss broad policy and planning issues, to consider faculty recruitment and appointment requests, and to discuss other administrative issues that have college-wide implications. (Short-term staffing and many other resource allocation requests are delegated to the appropriate associate dean, who confers with a committee composed of L&S Admin staff).
The Dean's Senior Staff meets weekly to discuss policy, planning, faculty hiring and recruiting, and other issues related to broad college operations.
Deadlines for specific requests from the dean, as well as for recurring items, are generally communicated to departments via e-mail. Non-recurring requests arising from departments may be submitted at any time.
If a department has an item to be considered by the dean's staff, the chair should contact her/his academic associate dean by the end of the day on the Thursday preceding the next Monday staff meeting.
