D2L - Changing the Email Address Displayed in D2L (UW-Madison)
UW-Madison is adopting Canvas as the single, centrally supported learning management system, and discontinuing support for Desire2Learn (D2L) and Moodle. Access to D2L and Moodle will permanently end June 1, 2018. For information about retaining materials from D2L or Moodle, please refer to this document.
This document describes what email addresses are displayed in D2L and how they can be changed.
The email address that appears in D2L is controlled by data we receive from our Integrated Student Information System (ISIS).
Students - Official email must be sent to your email@example.com or your firstname.lastname@example.org address. You may forward email from your WiscMail account to another address by following these instructions: WiscMail - Forwarding Email
Faculty/Staff - Because many faculty routinely use a departmental mail server rather than or in addition to their WiscMail account, we attempt to select the appropriate email address for use in D2L, usually the address listed in the UW Directory.
To update your address in D2L, it is necessary to change your address in the directory, please follow the instructions on "Updating a listing" with your employing unit's payroll coordinator.
The e-mail address listed in D2L cannot be different from the address listed in the University directory.
Users with no NetID (guests and students of Outreach and Continuing Studies programs, for example) - Individual D2L users who do not have a NetID should contact their program coordinator or instructor to provide or change an email address. Program coordinators or instructors should contact the Help Desk online to submit the name, userid and email address or address change for students and instructors in their classes.
All users - Please note that changing your email address within your D2L profile has no effect on the email address listed in the email tool and classlist. It simply indicates the address you would prefer to have used for personal contacts.
