Office 365 (iOS 8/7) - Working with Mail folders

Best Effort Support Only

This document contains instructions on using a non-Microsoft email client, such as Apple Mail or Thunderbird. Microsoft does not recommend these clients for use with Office 365, and there are often significant limitations in client functionality as a result.

Because of this, the DoIT Help Desk is only able to offer best effort support for these clients, and certain issues may require the use of a Microsoft client in order to be resolved. For more information on Office 365 client support, please see: Office 365 - Which clients/protocols will be supported?.

This document explains how to work with folders (create/move/delete) using the iOS Mail application.

How to see or hide a mailbox

You have the ability to customize the mailboxes of your iOS 7/8 Mail app. You can use this to help organize your mailboxes, and can add new mailboxes, such as unread messages, messages with attachments, flagged emails, and more.
  1. Open the Mail app and go to main "Mailboxes" screen.
  2. Tap "Edit" in the upper right corner to go into edit mode
  3. Mailboxes

  4. Select or deselect the mailboxes you want to see or want to hide
  5. Mailboxes

  6. Tap "Done" in the upper right corner

Note: Not all mailboxes can be edited. The default mailboxes that appear on each account will be greyed-out and are non-editable. These are the standard mailboxes that the email account requires.

  4. Scroll down to "Add Mailbox..." and tap the selection.
