Initial Review: Application

This page describes the ED/SBS IRB Initial Review application in ARROW

The applications in ARROW are smart forms, meaning they change as responses are provided/changed throughout the application.
The best way to review an application (and only way to complete an application) is in the electronic system.  However a PDF snapshot (based on current responses in the smart form) can be made using the Print Version button available in all application workspaces.

The Initial Review application should provide a complete and detailed description of a proposed study, including all requested supporting documents (recruitment, consent, instruments/tools, etc.).  The ED/SBS IRB can only approved finalized research plans, documents, etc.

Throughout the Initial Review application, there are icons to click on for help specific to the respective page or question.
Help topics for the ED/SBS IRB Initial Review application are also accessible here.

On the first page of the application, ensure you select the appropriate IRB, as the remainder of the application will differ depending on the reviewing IRB selected. If you have any questions regarding which IRB will review your study, please contact the IRB office(s).

The ED/SBS IRB Initial Review application is the same regardless of review type.

Review type will be determined by the assigned Staff Reviewer, once IRB Pre-Review has been completed.
