Learn@UW - Ordering of Courses and Groups Created by Integration Process

This document is for Site Administrators only.

The following rules determine the order of courses and any groups within these courses listed in the "My Courses" widget in the Learn@UW application after the courses have been created using the integration process:

  • On the org's home page:

    The courses are arranged as such:

    Semester --> Department --> Course names sorted alphabetically.

    If there are multiple courses with the same name, these course names appear in sequential order by course OU number. For example, UW Oshkosh once created four courses "Business Finance" under

    2005c Fall/Interim --> Business

    The courses appear in this order:

    1. Section 005C: ou=162391
    2. Section 004C: ou=162393
    3. Section 003C: ou=162395
    4. Section 002C: ou=162397

  • In the Course Mapping Tool:

    When there are multiple course listings being mapped to one D2L course, the course listings are ordered by the class number (last 5 digits of a course listing). See the example, QBA 2005 (Quantitative Business Analysis) provided in UW-Oshkosh in Course Mappings. The class numbers are in the same sequence as the section number; therefore, we would see that all the sections under one D2L course are in sequential order.

  • In the Classlist:

    The groups are displayed in the order they are grouped to the course. For example, If section 7 is added to the course prior to Section 5, Section 7 will be displayed before Section 5.

  • In the Org Unit Editor:

    The groups and sections within a course are arranged numerically by OU number.

    For example:
