UW Digital ID - Customer - What to Do When You Are Changing Phones / Have a New Phone / Reset Your Phone

This document will summarize the steps you will take to install the smart phone application that will relay your one-time password (OTP) for authentication to HRS or SFS.

  1. When you get a new phone or perform a reset on your existing phone, you will need to download and install the Symantec VIP app on your phone. Go to https://m.vip.symantec.com and select your particular device to install the VIP Access app.
  2. Contact your campus' LRA. You can find this information by going to UW Digital ID and click the "Click here for assistance" link at the bottom of the page.
  3. You will need to present a government-issued photo ID and UW ID to the LRA to switch your one-time token device serial number.
Acceptable forms of Identification: UW Campus ID, UW Health ID, Drivers License, Passport, US Military ID Card.
  4. If you are a 2factor VPN user, you or your LRA will have to email uwdigitalid@doit.wisc.edu after replacing your OTP device, stating that you are a 2factor VPN user who has a new OTP serial number. You will be unable to connect to the 2factor VPN until your account is updated with the new serial number.

If you have any issues that prevent you from physically meeting with your LRA (such as being indefinitely offsite) please contact UW Digital ID support for assistance at uwdigitalid@doit.wisc.edu.
