IRB Member Review Guide: Expedited Reviewer
This page provides information to ED/SBS IRB members about the role of an expedited reviewer
When assigned as an expedited reviewer - either as part of a subcommittee meeting or as a consultant - below are some guidelines for your review.
Subcommittee
If assigned to a subcommittee, you are expected to review all of the assigned protocols and bring your notes to the meeting.
Consultant
If you have been asked to serve as an expedited reviewer as a consultant, it is likely because the Staff Reviewer is looking to you for your expertise as related to the study. The Staff Reviewer will assign you as a reviewer in ARROW, providing easy access to the protocol application, and email you requesting your review. The Staff Reviewer will also note the time frame in which a review is requested by - to ensure studies are continuing to be processed within our standard turnaround times - and any unique issues or areas to focus your review.
Please provide a response to the Staff Reviewer by email either with your comments and review, or indicating you would like to attend the subcommittee meeting to discuss further.
