Microsoft Office (Windows) - Recovering Unsaved Work

This document describes the process of locating unsaved work in Microsoft Office.

  1. Go to File > Recent.

  2. At the bottom of the Recent Places section, click Recover Unsaved Documents.

    NOTE: The name of this button will vary depending on which Office application you are using. For example, the button is called Recover Unsaved Workbooks in Excel and Recover Unsaved Presentations in Powerpoint.

  3. This will bring you to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles. Any unsaved documents should be in this location. Select the desired document and click Open.
  1. Click File in the upper right corner, then click Open.
