Explanations of Features
Static vs. Dynamic
Static mailings are those with the same content being sent to all recipients. Dynamic mailings include customizations for each message, giving your content a personalized feel. Additional data is necessary to create dynamic mailings. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to send a dynamic mailing.
Mass emails are billed based on the number of successful recipients at the rates indicated in the table above. Static mailings have a minimum fee of $50, and dynamic mailings have a minimum fee of $75.
This feature allows the you to attach a file to a mass email and is only available to mass emails with less than 5,000 recipients. Mass emails must be 5MB or less, including attachments.
- Mailing Reports
Reports allow you to see how many messages succeeded and how many failed.
HTML Content Assembly
As of early March of 2015, the Mass Email service will no longer charge for emails with HTML content already included. Instead, there will be a $100 fee for messages that must be converted to HTML or assembled on your behalf. If your content is delivered as a .html file, no additional fee will be assessed.
Requests submitted within 3-5 business days of the mailing date are considered "expedited" and will be assessed an additional $50 fee. If the mailing cannot be prepared within the 5 business days allotted, you will not be charged this fee.
Requests submitted within 2 business days of the mailing date are considered "rushed" and will be assessed an additional $100 fee. If the mailing cannot be prepared within the 2 business days allotted, you will not be charged this fee.
PKI Digital Signing
Digitally signed emails give your readers confidence in the authenticity of your message. Submit your UW Digital ID along with the Mass Email request to have your certificate included.
Note: If you do not have a UW Digital ID already set up, you can easily obtain one by visiting UW-Madison's Public Key Infrastructure Homepage.
