EPD - Learn@UW - Managing Your Notification Settings

Control how you receive notifications about activity in your courses, including news items and discussions to which you have subscribed. You can receive a daily summary of activity, and/or receive instant notifications as things happen.

To access your notification settings, click the pull-down arrow next to your name on the top of the D2L window.

On the Notification Settings screen, indicate your preferred contact methods, and select whether or not you would like a daily summary of course activity and/or instant notifications. You can also exclude some of your courses from sending notifications.

Contact Methods

In order to receive email notifications, including updates from the discussion forums or threads to which you are subscribed, set which email address to use for notifications.  If you wish to receive notifications via SMS text messages, register your mobile telephone number.

Contact Methods

Summary of Activity

If you would like to receive a daily email summary of activity in your course(s), select Daily from the Summary of Activity context menu and then select a time of day.  If you prefer not to receive a daily summary, set the "How Often" field to Never.

Instant Notifications

If you wish to receive instant email or text notifications when there is new activity in various areas of your course(s), select the appropriate check boxes (Email and/or SMS) next to the course area for which you want to be notified. In order to stay up-to-date on course communication, it's a good idea to receive instant notifications about discussions and news items.

You can receive instant notifications in addition to a daily activity summary.

Note that in order to receive notifications about Discussion forums, topics, or threads, you must subscribe to them. See Subscribing to Discussions in D2L.

Instant Notifications

Grade Values

If you choose to receive notification about grades in your course(s), you can customize your notification to also receive grade values. Under Customize, check the box next to Include my grade value in notifications from grades.

Exclude Some Courses

You can exclude one or more courses from your notification settings. Click Manage my course exclusions and select which courses you want to exclude from your notification settings.

When you are finished modifying your notification settings, be sure to click the Save button.
