How to avoid cordless telephone interference problems

Some 2.4GHz cordless phones will cause interference or problems with wireless data networks. If cordless phones are needed, DoIT Network Services recommends using 900 Mhz, 2.4GHz with FHSS (Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum) technology, 5.8 GHz with FHSS or DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications). Some phones marketed as 5.8 GHz are also transmitting a 2.4 GHz signal. If you are purchasing cordless phones, be sure to check the technical specifications. Please note that Cisco does not make cordless phones

VoIP Phone and Equipment

VoIP phones must be purchased either through Shop@UW or as part of the VoIP Transition Process. No other equipment can be configured to work on the campus VoIP system. There are no cordless telephones that work with Cisco system.
