Learn@UW - Copy Course Components Troubleshooting
While copying course components from another course usually succeeds, occasionally problems arise. You can use the information provided by the system to help troubleshoot.
This document describes a procedure that should be followed to resolve the situation where copying course components from another course (using Copy Course Components) didn't successfully complete.
Step 1: Identify the source of the problem.
- If you copy selected components, the Copy Summary screen will indicate which items copied successfully and where the process failed.
- If you copy all components, the Copy Course Components History screen will provide a detailed log of the tools and items that were copied, including any errors.
If there are errors that you cannot correct based on information in the error message, please contact the DoIT Help Desk at (608) 264-4357 or by email at email@example.com.
Step 3: Before attempting to copy components again, choose one of the following options to avoid duplicating components in the target course.
- Delete EVERYTHING from the target course that was copied in the original attempt(s) and begin with a fresh copy.
- Delete from the target course only the components that failed to copy originally. Copy only those select components in the next attempt.
