Graduate Program Student Learning Outcomes
As part of UW-Madison’s course approval and academic program approval and review processes, all courses and academic programs are required to articulate, adopt, and report on student learning outcomes. Course learning outcomes are also a requirement for course syllabi. These requirements further the university’s effort to develop and sustain high-quality courses and academic programs as outlined in the institutional plan for assessing student learning.
In 2014, the Graduate Faculty Executive Committee (GFEC) created a set of overarching learning outcomes for Master's, Doctoral, and post-baccalaureate certificate programs. These outcomes have broad applicability and define a minimum set of
expectations for our campus within all graduate programs.
