Office 365 (Outlook on the web) - OneDrive Recovery Options

This document explains how to recover OneDrive files that were sent to the recycle bin. When items are deleted from the recycle bin, they cannot be recovered.

Note: If you delete OneDrive files from the desktop OneDrive folder, they were be sent to your local machine's recycle bin and must be recovered from there.

  1. Login to OneDrive by logging into Outlook on the web.
  2. Select the OneDrive option in the top right of Outlook on the web.
  3. On the following page, select recycle bin from the left-hand column of options.
  4. In the recycle bin, left-click to check the box next to each item you want to restore and then choose the restore selection option.

Very Important Items in the recycle bin are automatically deleted after one year. If your recycle bin is full, the oldest items will be automatically deleted after three days. The size of your recycle bin is 10% of your total OneDrive space, which for UW-Madison is 5 GB.
