Office 365 (Outlook 2016 for Mac) - Delete or update an appointment/meeting

NOTE: This document applies to Outlook 2016 for Mac, released in late 2015. For information about how to complete this task using the previous version of Outlook available for Mac, see: Office 365 (Outlook 2011) - Create a meeting/appointment
If you are the organizer of a meeting, you can change the meeting details and send an update to the attendees. You can also send a meeting cancelation so that the attendees can remove the meeting from their calendars.

What do you want to do?


Update a meeting/appointment

  1. Locate the meeting on your calendar, and then double-click the meeting to open it.

    If you want to update all instances of a recurring meeting, on the Meeting tab, click Edit Series.

  2. Change the options that you want.

  3. On the Meeting tab, click Send Update or Save & Close.

Cancel/Delete a meeting/appointment

  1. Locate the meeting on your calendar, and then double-click the meeting to open it.

  2. On the Meeting tab, click Cancel or Delete.

    Note If the meeting is recurring, the Cancel button is a menu with the options to cancel the single Occurrence or the Series.

  3. If you want to, type a message to invitees in the Message window.

  4. On the Meeting tab, click Send Cancellation.

Set Recurrence

  1. Open the appointment/meeting that you want to set to recur.

  2. On the Appointment bar, click Recurrence

  3. Click the frequency Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, Daily or Custom... with which you want the appointment to recur, and then select the options for the frequency.

  4. On the Appointment bar, click Save & Close.
