Use Calendar in UW-Madison Moodle

A. Settings:

Both the daily detail screen and the monthly detail screen have the Preferences button in the upper right. Here you can set the time format, first day of the week, number of events to show in the calendar block, days to look forward for events and if the filters on this calendar should be saved as the default for all calendars.
** All user's will also want to know how the calendar times are affected by their individual timezone setting in the Moodle User Profile. For more information, see EPD - eHelp - Online Learning Systems - Moodle User Profiles

Calendar Preferences

B. Subscribing or Exporting:

Moodle allows users to export calendars so they may be imported into other calendar programs, as a backup or to create a copy. The Moodle export process creates an ICS file. Users can create a URL link that will create a defined calendar from a link without actually logging into the site.
  •  Click on the "Export calendar" button at the bottom of a calendar will bring you to the Export page with options.

Export Options

  1. Select "All events" or "Events related to courses."
  2. Select your preferred time frame and then click the "Get calendar URL" button.
Note: By "Recent and next 60 days", it means the upcoming 2 months, starting this week.

The "Get calendar URL" button will create a URL address. Copy and paste the URL link into your preferred calendaring tool. This link will compile the icalexport.ics file.
