Kaltura - MediaSpace analytics (UW-Madison)

This document describes how to access analytics for individual media items that you own in Kaltura MediaSpace

Please note that it can take up to 24 to 48 hours for activity to be updated in the analytics area. Additional information on Kaltura MediaSpace analytics can be found in Kaltura's documentation Kaltura MediaSpace User Manual chapter on analytics.

How to access analytics for an individual media item in Kaltura MediaSpace

To access the analytics for a piece of media:

  1. Launch Chrome or Firefox and go to Kaltura MediaSpace: mediaspace.wisc.edu. Login by clicking Guest and selecting Login from the drop-down menu. If you need more information on how to log in to MediaSpace please see Kaltura - How to Log in to Kaltura MediaSpace (UW-Madison) .
  2. Click on your name or the person silhouette icon in the upper right corner and click My Media:

  3. Search for or scroll until you find the video you want to edit. Click on the media’s thumbnail image.
  4. Click the Actions button underneath the media and select Analytics:

Kaltura MediaSpace Media Analytics Page

The screenshot below is a view of the analytics dashboard. Upon entering a media item's analytics page the default view is Dashboard:

Other views are outlined below.

  1. Analytics Views
    • Dashboard - General data about your media item - how many visits, plays, etc.
    • Channels - Displays the statistics for the views of the entry in the channels the entry was viewed in.
    • Categories -  Displays the statistics for the views of the entry in the categories the entry was viewed in.
    • Users - Displays the statistics for the views of the entry according to the users that watched or attempted to watch the video.
  2. Date Range View - You have the following options when clicking on this dropdown:
    • Last 7 days
    • Last 30 days
    • Last 120 days
    • Last 365 days
    • Custom
      • Allows you to set your own date range.
  3. Plays in Channels
    • If your media item is in channels, this are will display the number of views in those channels.
  4. Plays in Categories
    • If your media item is in channels, this are will display the number of views in those channels.
  5. Top Engaged Users
    • If you require that users log in to view your media, you will see a list of users.
