Office 365 - Hide your calendar

The following document explains how to prevent others from seeing your calendar.

  1. Hide your account from the Global Address List

The Global Address List is the address look up feature in Office 365. If you hide your account from the Global Address List, others will not see your email address as an option when creating an event or sending a message. Instructions for hiding your account from the Global Address List are available here.

  2. Opt-out of Public ShareURL

Public ShareURL allows individuals to see your calendar via a URL that has a standardized format for everyone with a WiscCal or Office 365 account. For example, if Bucky Badger's email address was, his ShareURL would be as follows:

Everyone has a ShareURL that shows free/busy information by default. You have the option to share additional information or opt-out. Instructions for opting-out of Public ShareURL are available here.

  3. Change your default calendar permissions to None

By default, anyone using UW-Madison Office 365 can see your free/busy information. You can change this setting using Outlook. Follow these instructions to set Default to None.
