UW Digital ID (Mac) - Configuring Outlook for Mac to use a UW Digital Certificate
After downloading and installing your certificate, as per the email you recieved, it will be available for use in Outlook 2011.
PKI can be used with Outlook 2011 to send secure, digitally encrypted email. If you have not installed your digital certificate, please use the applicable documentation below.
To use your certificate in Outlook 2011, do the following:
Choose "Preferences..." in the Outlook menu bar
Click the "Advanced..." button
Click the "Security" Tab
Then choose your certificate from the "Certificate:" drop-down box under the "Digital Signing" section.
Choose "SHA-1" for the Signing algorithm:
Choose "3DES" for the Encryption algorithm:
Then choose your certificate from the "Certificate:" drop-down box under the "Encryption" section.
Verify the boxes are checked next to; "Sign outgoing messages", "Send digitally signed messages as clear text", "Include my certificates in signed messages"
The final settings should look similar to the screen below:
