Learn@UW - Options for Displaying Submitted Quiz Attempt Questions to Students

This document describes how to specify the available options for showing questions to students after they have submitted their quiz attempts.

To access these options, do the following:
  1. Select the quiz from the Quizzing tool.

  2. From "Edit Quiz", select the Submissions Views tab.

    Submission Views Tab

  3. Select the "Default View" link (or the link of an available view listed under "Additional Views") to access the options for the view. This brings up an interface where you specify the options for displaying submitted attempt questions to students under "View Details".

    Edit Quiz Submission View Interface

The questions are made viewable to students by selecting Yes by "Show Questions?".

If questions are made visible to students, there are four options:

    Show questions answered incorrectly

Questions that are graded with a point value of 0 (no credit) will be displayed, but questions that are graded with a point value greater than 0 (full or partial credit) will not be displayed. Since "Long Answer" questions are auto-graded with a point value of 0, they will be displayed.

    Show questions answered correctly

Questions that are graded with a point value greater than 0 (full or partial credit) will be displayed, but questions that are graded with a point value of 0 (no credit) will not be displayed. Since "Long Answer" questions are auto-graded with a point value of 0, initially, they will not be displayed. If such a question is later manually graded with a point value greater than 0, then it will be displayed.

Show all questions without user responses

All questions will be displayed, without any of the student's responses.

Show all questions with user responses

All questions will be displayed, along with the student's responses to those questions.

If the check box by Show question answers is checked, the correct answers will be displayed next to each question that appears.

If the check box by Show question score and out of score is checked, the number of points received by the student and the possible number of points will be displayed by each question.

For example, suppose a student has been graded partial credit for Question 1, no credit for Question 2, and full credit for Question 3 of a quiz. The illustrations below show what the student would see based on what questions are made viewable.

Both Show question answers and Show question score and out of score are turned on in the examples:

    Show all questions answered incorrectly

    Show questions answered correctly

    Show all questions answered correctly

Show all questions without user responses

  4. Press Save to return to the "Submissions Views" interface.

  5. Press Save and Close to exit or Add Additional View to add another submissions view.
