Introduction
You can customize the navigation bar, or NavBar, by changing the links it displays or changing its color or image.  In addition to pre-existing tool links, you can create your own navigation links to areas within your course or other locations outside of the course.
  • When Learn@UW creates a course it automatically assigns a default look and feel.  That look and feel is know as the theme.  A theme has two parts: The background image and the NavBar.  Only learn@UW administrator can create a theme.  However, you can choose from a number of different designs.
Select a new Navbar and Theme:

  • Click on the Course Admin drop-down menu in the navigation bar, then select Edit Course.
  • Select Navigation & Themes. On the NavBars page, you will see a list of the NavBars you have access to. Your active navbar is the one selected in the Active Navbar dropdown list.
  •  Preview the NavBar and themes by clicking on the small black arrow next to the NavBar title.

  • When you find a NavBar you like click the little arrow next to the title, then select Copy
  • To change the active navbar and apply your changes, select your new navbar from the Active Navbar dropdown list and click Apply. Your new navbar should appear at the top of your course.
