MyUW - Release Notes - 2015-08-11
On Tuesday August 11th 2015 the new MyUW became the default for Madison users.
Known issue in this release
Some Madison users who used beta recently before the Tuesday August 11 release may have a broken experience due to an issue with the way MyUW caches resources client-side in browsers. See also Document 54934 is unavailable at this time. .
The New MyUW becomes the default for Madison
In this release, the version of MyUW previously known as Beta is now the default MyUW for Madison users. The old version of MyUW is still available, launchable via a link in the footer. My UW System and other views on the portal continue to use the classic, not-new MyUW.
Better loading experiences
There were some rough edges where if the server was having a rough moment or your connection was slow, you could have some bad experiences waiting for UI elements to load. These are improved in a couple places where we noticed them.
Recent MyUW releases have included a slew of accessibility fixes. A few more labels trickle in with this release as well.
This release improves search results for queries that were common, were previously getting poor outcomes, and for which we knew of more relevant search results.
In particular, searching under the new MyUW for Box, work record, email, and courses should more often succeed through the keyword optimization in this release.
Employee Resources link changes
Links, their labels, and their URLs in the Employee Resources app are updated to reflect changes in the backing content.
Course Guide changes
This MyUW release upgrades the Course Guide version, hiding the "Open to First Year" display and criteria in the Course Details popup and fixing incorrect search results when open sections and exclude special groups is selected.
Student Emergency Contact registration soft non-launch
Technically, this release makes a new emergency contact information registration UI available to supported Madison students and a corresponding emergency information lookup UI available to authorized university staff. This is a soft non-launch, however, in that it is not being promoted at this time. More on this in a future release. See also MyUW - Local/Emergency Info FAQ .

Better server error experience
We prefer not to have server errors at all, but when we do, we would like the error experience to be relevant and supportive. Previous effort had improved the error experience to include links useful to Madison users. In this release the server error page is improved to include relevant links for System users as well.
