CEE929 Seminar Requirements for Online MeEnvE Graduate Students

Summary instructions for completing CEE929 seminar requirements.

All graduate students in the Online Master of Environmental Engineering (MEng EnvE) Program are required to complete the following activities over the span of their graduate program via CEE 929. More information will be provided to students by Michael Doran and Lee DeBaillie, but this page serves as the primary reference and source of information for completing the requirement.

Each semester there are many interesting on-campus seminars, and many are recorded for later viewing via the Web.  Students are required to view a minimum of sixteen (16) of these and prepare a brief report of their impressions.  On-campus students in environmental engineering graduate programs are required to attend a weekly seminar on environmental engineering and science topics. This program requirement is an effort to make sure that the student is exposed to a wide variety of topics within Environmental Engineering and other related areas, and thus how their skills can be applied to a wide range of environmental challenges.  Most of the recorded presentations, by visiting faculty, senior program staff, or graduate students are about forty-five minutes to one hour in length.  Students in the MEng EnvE program receive 1 credit for successfully completing their CEE 929 work.

Process for Fulfilling CEE929 Seminar Requirement

Over the span of their tenure in the program, students must view a minimum of sixteen (16) recorded seminars and must provide documentation to support their learning and reflection of each seminar topic. The seminars may be selected by each student from the list of links below. The documentation will include the title, date recorded, video length, date viewed, along with a brief summary reflection of what you learned that is most germane to your experience and interests in the field of environmental engineering. Each student is required to keep track of their progress toward this requirement.

The general process for completing the requirement are as follows:
  1. View recorded seminars from the approved list below.
  2. Students should download and complete the MS Word Report Template to document each viewing of a recorded seminar.
  3. Upload your completed report template via the CEE929 Documentation Upload Form. Please use the following file naming convention for your report template file name (CEE_929_Seminar_ReportTemplate-LastName_FirstName). The template provides further instructions for completing.
  4. Students will enroll in 1-credit of CEE929 during the last semester before their graduation to receive proper credit for completing this program requirement.

IMPORTANT:  Do not wait to begin working on this program requirement! Students are encouraged to get started early in the program, and not wait until their last semester to view and document their selection of recorded seminars.

Following is a list of links to recorded seminar series that are eligible for fulfilling the CEE929 seminar requirement. Students are encouraged to focus on a combination of topics to insure breadth and diversity.
