D2L - Students in Classlist do not match Roster in My UW (UW-Madison)
Under some circumstances the student classlist in D2L may not match the student roster in My UW-Madison.
The Classlist (course roster) in D2L is automatically generated by an integration process with ISIS, the student information system. In most cases, this happens once daily Monday-Friday in the early morning hours. During the semester, students who register in My-UW Madison will be automatically added to their corresponding D2L course.
The following factors may be at play if a D2L course Classlist doesn't seem up to date:
- Because the Classlist is not automatically updated over the weekends, students who officially register for a course on a Friday afternoon would not be added to the corresponding D2L course until the early morning hours of the following Monday.
- Occasionally, the integration process is suspended for technical reasons or holiday schedules. Classlists in D2L are not updated when the integration process is suspended. Please contact the DoIT Help Desk with inquiries about whether the integration process might have been suspended.
- Prior to each semester, D2L courses are created well in advance of the time when Classlists for that semester are updated daily. During the period between the time D2L courses are created and the start of daily Classlist updates, Classlists in D2L will not be updated and will appear "out of sync" with rosters in My UW-Madison. Each semester, the daily automatic updating of Classlists begins approximately four weeks prior to the first day of class. So, for example, during a Summer term, a course for the upcoming Fall term may exist in D2L (along with some people in the course Classlist). However, the Classlist for the Fall course will not be updated daily until approximately four weeks prior to the start of the Fall term.
