My UW-Madison: Helping campus work smarter, faster, safer


Since 2001 MyUW has helped UW-Madison faculty, staff, applicants, and students work smarter, faster, and safer. In an increasingly complex university environment, MyUW is an indispensable and cost effective service that helps the university achieve its teaching, learning, research, and outreach goals. Each year more than 150,000 people log into My UW-Madison more than 20 million times.


The mission of MyUW is to provide a user-centric, personalized, secure, reliable, and trusted resource that enables easy navigation, discovery, and direct delivery of university applications, services, and resources.  A one stop shop for personalized, transactional information.


MyUW provides a centrally funded platform available to all campus stakeholders that is secure, robust, scalable, and easy to use. We have flexible integration and development options including links, widgets, dashboards, and full applications. MyUW offers a responsive design, style guide, design process, consistent user experience, central support, and usage analytics. We practice user-centered design and Agile development that encourages rapid, continual improvement. MyUW provides value to all parts of campus:

  • For users, MyUW is a trusted, well known place with a superior user experience to go to take action and solve problems.

  • For campus partners, MyUW is a service that can be used to effectively deliver valuable, personalized information to users in a location they are already familiar with complete with discoverability, clustering, and high availability.

  • For project sponsors and developers, MyUW is a platform that can be used to deploy new functionality and applications.

  • For campus leadership, MyUW is a partner in supporting the campus strategic initiatives. MyUW helps us own the user interface and reduces our vendor reliance.


MyUW is playing a role in addressing major campus initiatives by increasing efficiencies and improving the campus experience. Examples include:

  • My Profile - A centralized way to view and update information about you (e.g., preferred name, local and emergency contacts)

  • Notifications - A flexible system to get critical, actionable information to targeted groups and individuals

  • Advising Gateway - A comprehensive view of student information for advisors pulled from multiple systems

  • Enrollment Experience - An easier way for students to find courses of interest, plan their academic path, and enroll in classes


MyUW core values include:
