Canvas - Getting started with Canvas at UW-Madison

This document outlines resources on how to get started with Canvas at UW-Madison.

This is information for the UW-Madison Canvas site for Fall 2016 or later - canvas.wisc.edu. It is not information for the UW-Madison Canvas pilot site which was run prior to Fall 2016 (wisc.instructure.com).

How to Request a Canvas Course

Starting on May 2nd, 2016 you can read more information on requesting a course and submit a request on the Requesting a Canvas Course at UW-Madison page. The link to the course request form is at the bottom of the page. Be sure you are logged into Google apps with your netid before you click on the link to submit a Canvas course request. You will receive a response to your request within two business days.

Please note that Canvas is currently available only for credit-based courses in the UW-Madison Course Guide starting on September 1st, 2016 or later. In addition, please note that automated final grades transfer will not be available in Canvas for the Fall 2016 semester, so early users should be comfortable with manually exporting grades and importing them into the Registrar's Office system. You will need to follow Canvas - Submitting Final Grades to the Registrar's Office  in order to export your grades from Canvas and import them into the Registrar's Office system.
