Canvas - How to Get Support on Canvas
This document outlines a number of options for help with Canvas support questions.
Canvas Support provided by Instructure
Instructure is the vendor behind Canvas and can provide support on many Canvas issues. To reach Canvas support click on the question mark "Help" icon in global navigation on the left. It is the last menu option:
Canvas Support is available 24 hours, 7 days a week and can assist you with questions about:
- Canvas functionality, including uploading and organizing course materials
- Any technical difficulties
Note: Canvas Support will help you learn how to do something, but can't do it for you. For example, the support staff will give you the proper steps to edit and update an assignment, but can't edit the assignment for you.
DoIT Help Desk
- Basic log in troubleshooting
- Resetting NetID passwords
- Issues with UW-Madison specific technologies in Canvas like Blackboard Ultra and Kaltura MediaSpace
Local school, college, and departmental contacts for inquiries about Canvas are available here.
Learning technology consultants from DoIT Academic Technology are also available by appointment for one-on-one Canvas consultations. Consultants can advise faculty and instructional staff on topics such as when to switch to Canvas, how to get started and how to effectively use the LMS to support student learning. Consultants can also provide information about other useful resources.
To request an appointment, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and include questions, course information and contact details. Due to resource constraints, priority will be given to credit-based courses offered in the fall. Consultations are expected to last approximately one hour or less.
