UW-Madison Academic Plan Codes

This document explains how to find active academic plan codes in the Majors, Options, Degrees and Certificates Report visualization.

Overview

An academic plan code is a Student Information System (SIS) code representing an approved academic offering such as major, minor, or certificate within an academic career and program.

Steps

Find a Plan Code for a Major, Option, and/or Degree

  1. Open the Majors, Options, Degrees, and Certificates workbook.
  2. Navigate to the Majors, Options, and Degrees tab. The active majors, options, and degrees for the current term will be displayed.
  3. Scroll through the visualization to the major, option, or degree for which you want to find a plan code, or use the filters at the top of the visualization to narrow your search by school/college, department, and/or career. You can also search by major/option description or plan code.
  4. Once you have found the major, option, or degree for which you are searching, the plan code will be displayed in the “Plan Code” column.

Find a Plan Code for a Certificate

  1. Open the Majors, Options, Degrees, and Certificates workbook.
  2. Navigate to the Certificates tab. The active certificates for the current term will be displayed.
  3. Scroll through the visualization to the certificate for which you want to find a plan code, or use the filters at the top of the visualization to narrow your search by school/college, department, and/or career. You can also search by certificate description or plan code.
  4. Once you have found the certificate for which you are searching, the plan code will be displayed in the “Plan Code” column.
