KB User's Guide - Documents Tab - Uploading Very, Very Large Files into a KB doc (UW-Madison Only)

Individual images/attachments for each KB doc need to be smaller than 125MB. While multiple 125MB images can be attached to a single document, each individual attachment must be smaller than 125MB. Upon occasion, a KB author needs to upload an image/file that exceeds our limits. This document will guide UW-Madison authors on how to store their very large docs on UW Box.

Linking to your Large File in the KB

For larger files, we would recommend uploading those to a separate file hosting service:

  1. UW Box is a service for which we have an enterprise agreement for UW-Madison.

  2. Once you have the files in Box:

  3. Get a direct link to the file.

  4. Insert the link via the Link button into the editor of your KB doc.
  5. When end users click on this link in your Live Site(s), they will be prompted to download the file.
