ResNet Wireless Service - Service Description
This document provides an overview of ResNet's wireless service.
Wireless access points were added to the ResNet Network in dining rooms and the University Apartments Community Center in the spring of 2005. During the summer of 2007 ResNet Wireless Service was installed in almost all common areas throughout the residence halls.
During the Summer and Fall of 2012, ResNet Wireless Service was made available in all rooms in the residence halls.
The DoIT Help Desk (264-4357) will support ResNet wireless via phone to the best of their ability and escalate to ResNet if neccessary. However, for hardware issues, the Walk-In Help Desk can determine if a wireless network adapter is configured properly. Please visit the walk-in Help Desk at 1210 W. Dayton Street, 7:45 AM until 5PM, M-F.
Basic instructions for configuring a wireless network adapter to use ResNet Wireless can be found on their website:
ResNet Wireless is available in common areas in all residence halls and in all individual rooms. Individuals having difficulty connecting should verify the name of the connection to which they are attempting to connect. All ResNet access points broadcast the SSID 'ResNet Wireless', and this is the SSID to which clients should connect.
The registration proccess will register the computer for 1 year.
Note: Conference guests also have wireless access available to them. At the registration page they should choose the option for Guest. Following those steps will give them access to ResNet Wireless.
The ResNet Wireless Network is available for use by UW students, staff, and faculty who have an active campus NetID, as well as Conference Guests.
ResNet wireless service availability and support is limited to those buildings and departments designated on the ResNet website.
UW Net is now available in the Dining Halls in University Housing.
