Web Hosting - Linux Oracle Connectivity - tnsnames.ora

TNSNAMES.ORA is a Oracle configuration file that defines databases addresses for establishing connections to them.

DoIT’s Web Hosting Service automatically synchronizes with a tnsnames.ora file maintained and provided by DoIT’s Database Administrators, who offer Oracle database hosting services.

For more information, visit: https://it.wisc.edu/services/oracle-database-hosting/

The file is also shared with staff on GitLabs at: https://git.doit.wisc.edu/DRMT/tnsnames

The Web Hosting service checks the Git repository every hour. If there are any changes, they are pulled into each web server.

NOTE: Oracle is not installed on our Windows platforms, and developers utilize Oracle’s Data Provider for .NET and specify connections within their applications.
