Learn@UW - Calculating a mid-semester grade
Learn@UW gradebook can calculate mid-semester grades for your student. Currently, there is no functionality that will export 6-weeks grades to the faculty center.
Mid-semester grades can be calculated in Learn@UW by using either a calculated or formula column. For mid-semester grades, do not set up formulas that affect the "final calculated grade." Doing so has the potential to create calculation issues mid-semester and at final grading.
Calculated columns can be added by:
1. Selecting Grades in the navigation bar and then Manage Grades.
2. Clicking on the button to open the drop-down menu and then select Item.
3. Click on the Calculated link. In the following window, give the column a name (e.g. "Midterm Grade"). Under grade items to include, check the boxes next to all items you wish to include in the calculation.
4. If desired, change the display options by clicking Show Display Options and then changing as needed.
5. When finished, click .
Please note that students will be able to see the grades for all boxes checked, regardless of whether they are hidden.
Midterm grades can also be calculated and displayed to students manually by using a Formula item. For more information on the formula item type, please see Gradebook Formula Editor
