SCOM 2012 - Campus Active Directory Configuration
Campus Active Directory does not offer System Center 2012 R2 Operations Manager (SCOM) as a service to customers. However, customers may setup and maintain their own instance of SCOM joined to Campus Active Directory. This document describes recommended configuration items for running System Center 2012 R2 Operations Manager on Campus Active Directory.
Management Group Name
Management Group names must be unique. As such, Campus Active Directory requires customers to precede their management group name with their DEPT code. For example, "MST-SCOM-MG1".
While not all of SCOM's accounts are required to be domain accounts, it is strongly recommended.
- Management Server Action account - SVC-SCOM Action-[DEPT] This account is used to gather data and run actions on managed endpoints. A single SCOM instance can use multiple Action accounts, and allows you to specify which Action account should be used for each group of endpoints. The Management Server Action account should never have domain admin privileges.
- Configuration and Data Access account - SVC-SCOM Access-[DEPT] This account is used by SCOM to update the Operations Manager database.
- Data Warehouse Write account - SVC-SCOM Writer-[DEPT] This account is used by SCOM to write to the Reporting data warehouse.
- Data Warehouse Read account - SVC-SCOM Reader-[DEPT] This account is used by SQL Server Reporting Services to query the Operations Manager reporting data warehouse.
