Cisco VoIP - Customizing options in Jabber Client (Mac)

How to customize your Jabber Client for Mac

Changing Audio Options

Jabber allows you to connect a headset to your computer and use it with your Jabber softphone.
  • Navigate to the menu bar, select the Jabber menu, select Preferences and select the Audio/Video tab.
  • In the drop down, select the devices you wish to use for your Speakers, Microphone and Ringer Alerts.

Adding a Video Camera

Jabber is able to use a built-in or external video camera to add face-to-face communication to all of your audio calls.
  • Navigate to the menu bar, select the Jabber menu, select Preferences and select the Audio/Video tab.
  • Turn your video on and select it from the drop-down menu.

Video Default Action

Jabber video is disabled by default.  You may enable it to auto-start video on calls where video is available, if desired.
  • Navigate to the menu bar, select the Jabber menu, select Preferences and select the Calls tab
  • To change the default behavior, select Always start my calls with video by default
When the box is unchecked, video will not be enabled by default

Calendar Integrations

You can integrate your Meetings tab and Presence Status with your corporate calendar service. Your status message will automatically change to “In a Meeting” when your calendar shows you as busy.
  • Navigate to the menu bar, select the Jabber menu, select Preferences and select the Status tab.
  • Check In a meeting (according to my calendar).
  • You will need to restart your Jabber client for the changes to take effect.
