The BioCommons is a community and learning space developed for UW-Madison students in the biological sciences.  It is located on the lower level of Steenbock Memorial Library.  The BioCommons includes several flexible, multi-purpose spaces that can be used by individual students and student groups or by campus units or other organizations interesting in reaching out to be bioscience undergraduates.

The biological sciences landscape on campus is complex, and opportunities are spread across six schools/colleges, so a central compilation of information about biological sciences opportunities and resources across campus is being created in conjunction with the BioCommons space.  Resources will be available in the Steenbock Library space, as well as online at

Programming is to promote broader awareness of bioscience opportunities, support collaboration across units/programs, encourage student engagement in beyond-the-classroom learning, promote community building, and cultivate peer leadership in the biological sciences.
