Office 365 (Outlook on the web | Outlook 2016 for Windows/MacOS) - Save an email

This document will provide instructions on how to save an email in Outlook on the web, Outlook 2016 for Windows, and Outlook 2016 for MacOS.


  1. Select the Mail icon from the app launcher near the top-left corner of the screen.

  2. Find the email that you would like to save. Double-click the message to open it in a new window.
  3. On the top menu bar of the popped-out message, click More Options (...). From the context menu, click Print.

  4. This will open up a new browser window, and you will be prompted to print via a 'Print' window. Click the Cancel button to close the 'Print' window.
  5. On the HTML message window, right-click anywhere and select Save Page As... from the context menu.

  6. Choose a location and file type to save the message as, and click Save to finish.

  2. Find the email that you would like to save. Highlight the message to open it in the reading pane, or double-click the message to open it in a new window.
  3. On the top ribbon, click File > Save As.

  4. Choose a location and file type to save the message as, and click Save to finish.
