Advanced Content Authoring and Reporting - Sending a grade from a Storyline module in WordPress to Canvas
Storyline is an advanced content authoring tool that should only be used by technically inclined instructors or instructors who have local learning technology support staff. Please take this into account when deciding to use Storyline for the creation of course and assignment materials.
This document covers basic information on how to send a grade from a Storyline module in WordPress to Canvas for the content authoring solution.
A WordPress plugin processes xAPI statements (specifically "Passed" and "Failed" statements) and sends a grade value back to your Canvas gradebook. This process can be set to run every half hour, and can also be triggered manually.
Login to the Appropriate WordPress/Grassblade Site For Your School or College
If you only have access to one site, WordPress should direct you to the correct school or department WordPress site, which are:

If you have access to multiple sites, continue below.
In the upper left, click My Sites → Network → Admin Sites. A list of WordPress sites you have access to will display.
Mouse over the site you want to enter. A list of options will display.
From the list of options that display, click dashboard.
Click on the page your module is used in.
Configure Grade Sync Settings
Scroll towards the bottom of the page where you see the Auto Grade Sync Settings window.
Select the Beginning Date and Ending Date of the range of submissions you want to process.
Select the Grading Scheme you want to use from the drop-down menu. You can select from Average Attempt, Best Attempt, First Attempt, or Last Attempt.
Click the Send Grades to LMS button to manually push grades into the Canvas gradebook:
You will see a message in the lower left of the window that says Grading Please Wait, which will be replaced with Grade Sync Response followed by User Attempt Time Score and the users whose grades were found within the specified date range. These scores will be sent to the linked Canvas assignment gradebook entry. If you want to manually push grades to your gradebook each time, you are done. If you want to automatically send grades from students within the specified date range, follow the next two steps.
Sending the grade to Canvas automatically
If you would like the grades automatically sent to Canvas, select the checkbox for Auto-Sync enabled. Grades will be synced to the gradebook every half hour.
Click Update (or Publish if it is a brand new page) button on the right to save the Auto Grade Sync settings.
If you are not seeing the students you would expect in Step 7 above, double check that you correctly set the Beginning Date and Ending Date. Make sure the end date is set for the day after the last grade you would expect.
If you are still not seeing the students you would expect to have grades for in Step 7 above, the students may not have completed the module. The LTI plugin for WordPress and GrassBlade only sends grades when Learning Locker has recorded a "passed" or "failed" xAPI verb for a student and module. You can try exporting all of the data from Learning Locker to see if there are xAPI statements from the student and if there is a "passed" verb for the student in question. If there isn't a "passed" or "failed" verb, it is likely the student did not complete the module. It is also possible your module was setup in such a way that it is not sending "passed" or "failed" verbs.
If you have found your auto-grade sync settings did not save, set them again and make sure you click the Update button on the right of the page.
