3270 - TPX Login Violation ("Terminal Security Violation" error)

This document explains why TPX users receive the error message "terminal security violation".

SYMPTOM

When trying to log into a 3270 session, the user gets the error message "Terminal Security Violation..."

CAUSE

The reason the user is getting this error is that they are already logged into the mainframe from another station and the system is actually asking, does the user want to transfer that session to the session that is currently being started up?

SOLUTION

Customer should be on the TPX login screen. Examples of this screen can be found by clicking the "Mainframe - Logging In/Out" link below.

In the field that says Transfer:, enter YES.

The signon will complete and transfer the session from the other station to the current station and any applications the user was signed into will now be available to this session, without having to restart them again.
