Windows 10 Upgrade: Saving Favorites and Bookmarks (UWC/EX)

This document outlines how to export and save bookmarks stored in Windows 7 browsers during the update to Windows 10.

For Internet Explorer:

To export the Favorites folder, follow these steps:

  1. Start Internet Explorer
  2. On the File menu, click Import and Export, and then click Next.
  3. Click Export Favorites and then click Next.
  4. Click Favorites and then click Next
  5. Type the name of the file that you want to export the favorites to.

For Chrome:

Open Google Chrome, and click the Customize and Control Google Chrome menu > Bookmarks. Next, select Bookmarks manager, or press [CTRL] + [Shift] + [O] on your keyboard. Now, click the Organize menu > Export bookmarks to HTML file: Choose a location to save the file, and then click Save.

For Firefox:

Click the Bookmarks button and select Show All Bookmarks to open the Library window. From the toolbar on the Library window, click Import and Backup and choose Export Bookmarks to HTML.... In the Export Bookmarks File window that opens, choose a location to save the file, which is named bookmarks.html by default.
