Accessing files on the XenApp Server

How to access files on the XenApp server while using a software in Citrix Receiver.

XenApp allows you to remotely access a list of Windows applications that are also available in the CAE lab machines. For a complete list of software available through XenApp, please refer to this link: http://www.cae.wisc.edu/software/ . While using the software on XenApp, you also have the ability to save files on that server or in your CAE account. In some cases, the class you are taking might upload files to use on the XenApp server, which you will not be able to access via your CAE account. The following information covers the steps necessary to access files on the XenApp server versus the files in your CAE account.

If you would like to access the files on the XenApp server (1) or in your CAE account (2), you must be logged on to the XenApp server first, whether through the web version (light) or through installed Citrix Receiver (full).

Information on how to connect to the XenApp server for Windows can be found here: https://kb.wisc.edu/cae/page.php?id=34016

  1. Once you are logged on and using the software of your need, you can save or access files on the XenApp server by going to "File", "Open" or "Save as", "This PC" (on the left hand side of the prompted window), under "Devices and drives", click "Local Disk (C:)" (make sure you are not clicking the Local Disk C on your personal device). Please see the following image as a reference:

  2. To save or access files on your CAE account (drive), you can once again go to "File", "Open" or "Save as", "This PC", under "Network Locations", click the folder with your username. The following image has been used as an example:
