Learn@UW - Downloading Files from a Dropbox Folder

This document describes methods for downloading files from a dropbox folder.

To download a single file, do the following:

  1. Select the Dropbox tool.

  2. Click on the dropbox folder's link in the list of folders.

  3. To obtain the list of files sorted by file name, select the Files tabbed page in the "Folder Submissions" panel. On the Users tabbed page, the files are grouped by user.

  4. Left-click on the file's link. This takes to to the 'Evaluate Submissions' interface for the student who submitted the file.

  5. If the file is of a type that can be opened with the Document Viewer, it will be.  Click the Download button ( Download ) below the file's view to bring up a dialog to allow you to save the file on your machine.

  6. If the file is of a type that cannot be opened with the Document Viewer, a dialog will appear that allows you to save the file on your machine.

To download multiple files as a zip file, do the following:

  1. Select the Dropbox tool.

  2. Click on the dropbox folder's link in the list of folders.
  3. To obtain the list of files sorted by file name, select the Files tabbed page in the "Folder Submissions" panel. On the Users tabbed page, the files are grouped by user.

  4. Select the files you want to download by checking the boxes by the file names.

  5. Select the Download icon ( download ) resembling a down arrow within a circle.
  6. You will see a link in a "Download Files" window to download a .zip file. Click the link to save the file on your computer.

  7. The downloaded .zip file will later have to be unzipped.
