WiscWeb - WordPress UW Theme - Embedding a Twitter Feed

Twitter has a built in functionality to embed an individual timeline into a WordPress site using specific code. This document will walk you through the process.

To begin, you will need to navigate to https://publish.twitter.com/ and enter the Twitter handle that you want to grab the timeline of.

Choose a twitter handle to embed

Choose the style of embed you want. For a traditional timeline view of a Twitter feed, select Embedded Timeline.

Below that, there is the option to copy the code necessary for your WordPress site. You will be shown where this code goes, below. You could also click on the set customization options link to edit some of the settings included in the copied code. These options include the height and width of the feed, as well as some color variables. One value that is not readily available in the Embedded Timeline option is the ability to limit the number of tweets that are displayed in a timeline (the default is 20). You can edit this in the code later.

Now that you have your code to embed, go to the page that you wish to embed your code on and click into the Text tab of a Text Block page element. Paste your copied code into that space. To limit the number of tweets appearing within the timeline on your page, be sure to add data-tweet-limit="x" your pasted code (x will equal the number of tweets you want to display):
