In sum, ISS:

-Provides advising for international students and their dependents

-Provides information on immigration regulations and procedures and issues non-immigrant visa documents

-Provides orientation programs to assist with cultural adjustment, provide information about campus and University services

International Student Services assists with UW-Madison's commitment to international education by providing orientation, advising, documentation, information, programming and education to and about international students and their dependents. ISS assists with questions about campus and community resources and United States F-1 and J-1 visa regulations.

They also provide new student orientation programs; intercultural communication workshops; information on international student organization contact persons; and workshops on employment options for international students.

ISS's BRIDGE program helps new international students connect with American students. New international students learn about the university, the community, the culture, and participate in many cultural and social activities with their own American BRIDGE Partner, and the American Partner also benefits by learning about cultures, beliefs, and traditions that are different from their own.

Information on embassies in the US is available at http://www.embassy.org.
