Dell Custom Quotes (Quote To Order) / E-Quotes

What is the difference between a Dell E-Quote and a Dell Custom Quote?

Dell E-Quotes can be made by anybody on the Dell website through Shop@UW. For instance, if you visit the DoIT Tech Store and a consultant makes you a quote, it is an E-Quote. You can also log into Shop@UW as a guest with your UW-Madison Net ID and password, access the Dell punch-out page and make an E-Quote for yourself, and have your department's financial specialist order it for you.

A Dell Custom Quote, formerly known as Quote To Order (QTO), is usually used when purchasing a large number of computers or when configuring complex systems -- specifically servers and storage arrays. Custom Quotes are not usually necessary when ordering desktop or laptop computers, as they can be configured and ordered through the Shop@UW site.

Custom / QTO Quotes are different from Dell E-quotes in that they must be assembled and emailed to you by a Dell representative. Please see our Ordering Custom Quotes buyer's guide for more detailed information.

What kind of orders should be placed using a Custom / QTO quote? Orders that include:
  • 20 or more identical Desktop Computers
  • 10 or more identical Laptop Computers
  • 3 or more Servers and/or Storage Arrays
