This document will provide you with information on what the Gateway Timeout error looks like, what it means, and what you can do about it.
The Gateway Timeout error (also known as a 504 server error) is an indication that something is wrong with the server. The message shows up when it takes the server so long to load a page that it is actually timing out.
This may be an indicator that WiscWeb is experiencing an outage.
The first thing you should try is refreshing/reloading the page. In some cases, this will allow you to keep editing your project and/or viewing your webpages.
If refreshing does not work, please contact our team right away to let us know what you are experiencing. Please include the following:
- Your NetID
- The project/website you edit
- A brief description of what you were doing when you encountered the error (filling out a form, updating a page, etc.)
