*For Research Participants:
If you have questions about a specific research project, please contact the research team. Contact information should be provided on the consent form or information provided to you by the research team.
If you are not satisfied by the response of the research team, have questions about your rights as a research participant, or concerns about a research project, please contact the ED/SBS IRB office using the information listed at the top of this page. Please note that the more information you can provide, the more easily the IRB office can help. If possible, please have the title of the study and/or the consent form in front of you when you contact our office.
The ED/SBS IRB staff are happy to answer questions from researchers by:
Email is a great way to contact us. With email, staff are able to provide responses and both parties have a paper trail to refer back to. We respond to email in a timely fashion.
If you are unable to reach us directly via phone, our recommendation is to send an email with your questions or to set up a time to speak on the phone (or in person). Voicemail messages which do not include a clear name and contact information will likely not be returned. If you are inquiring about a protocol already submitted to the ED/SBS IRB in ARROW, please contact the assigned staff reviewer.
Have a quick question? Need help getting started? IRB Staff are happy to help!
Drop-in hours are Wednesdays 2-3pm and Thursdays 10-11am year-round. During this time you can meet one-on-one with a member of the IRB Staff to provide you with personalized attention, with no appointment necessary. It is helpful if you have already completed the CITI human subjects research training and, if you know you will be completing an IRB application, at least have your application started in ARROW. Visit us in 312, 314, 316 or 322 Lathrop Hall (take the west stairs) and be sure to bring your laptop.
Individual appointments are available throughout the week. To schedule an individual appointment, please contact an IRB staff member (this should be your assigned IRB staff reviewer if you have already submitted your application). Again, it is helpful to have completed the CITI human subjects research training and, if you know you will be completing an IRB application, at least have your application stated in ARROW.
